Ghost Photo Shoot Challenge
"Magic is really very simple, all you've got to do is want something and then let yourself have it." -Aggie Cromwell (Halloweentown)
Halloween is right around the corner! Leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and the ghosts are here to play…especially when a camera is present! Tik Tok has presented us with another photography challenge that I genuinely enjoyed.
Musts for The Ghost Photo Shoot Challenge:
A white sheet to cover your body
A prop to wear over sheet (i.e., hat or sunglasses) and/or cut eye holes
Camera (phone, DSLR, Polaroid, etc.)
A tripod or something to prop camera against
I have now done this challenge twice, once with my good friend and second with photography clients. Both times, the results were better than we could have imagined! With my friend, we decided to take photos at dawn near the cemetery and in our local park. We had black yogas underneath our white sheets along with cute fall boots. We also traded a hat and sunglasses to give our ghostly creatures a personality. I propped up my cell phone on a mini tripod to capture b-roll for the Tik Tok challenge and used my Canon DSLR to take her photo, along with a tripod when I wanted to take a photo of both of us. The rest was just using our imagination and the world around us to create some pretty spooky photographs!
With my photography clients, they were two besties that loved having their photos taken together, especially during the fall season. They requested a woodsy atmosphere, such as Nay Aug Park. They provided all the props from costume plastic knives, candy corn, trick-or-treat baskets, white sheets, matching orange t-shirts, witches hats, etc., etc. We decorated a little space in the woods out of the way of the immediate walking path, and began our spooky adventure. They were an absolute blast to hang out with, and loved my ideas of where to put props and how to pose with them!
Don’t be afraid to get creative this Halloween, and have a blast with your friends and family with the simplest of things such as a white sheet!
Have a spooky holiday!
Spooky and Scary,
